Unlock space and light for a sustainable living

New Malden, London

Full Build and Interior Design.  Dormer loft conversion & rear ground floor extension

For this end-of-terrace home in New Malden, our client wanted to create a bright and functional home that reflected modern living and conscious choices. The project included a rear ground floor extension, a loft conversion, and a full internal refurbishment—with a strong focus on sustainable features and collaboration.

The challenge

The original layout lacked openness and natural light, particularly at the rear of the property. The loft space remained unused, and the client wanted to introduce eco-minded solutions to make the home not only more spacious, but also more future-ready. A key aspect of the project was also the working dynamic—our client, a passionate and hands-on homeowner, was keen to be actively involved in the process.

The solution

We opened up the ground floor with a rear extension, creating a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area that now flows directly into the garden through large sliding glass doors. The loft extension added a new bedroom, an office and an en-suite bathroom, making the most of vertical space and adding long-term value to the home. To support the client’s goal of integrating sustainable features, we reinforced the roof structure of the extension to accommodate a future green roof, allowing for insulation benefits and potential biodiversity, without compromising the structural integrity.

the outcome

The home is now significantly brighter, more spacious, and tailored to everyday living. But more than that, it reflects a shared vision, where the client played an active role alongside our team to bring the project to life.

This case study is a great example of how we not only design and build, but also build relationships—supporting clients who want to be involved and creating spaces that are as meaningful as they are functional.

Let me know if you’d like a closing quote or sentence about how the collaboration made the result even more rewarding!
